Insurance & Reimbursement
I am an out-of-network provider, which means I don’t bill insurance directly. Many clients are able to use their out-of-network benefits for partial reimbursement.
I provide a superbill (receipt) after sessions.
You submit it to your insurance company.
If covered, they reimburse you directly.
For an estimate of your out-of-network benefits, please use this tool: https://calculator.meetnirvana.com
Other options:
Use an HSA or FSA account (pre-tax dollars).
If you’d like to know what your plan covers, call your insurance provider and ask about out-of-network mental health benefits. I’m happy to support you with this process.
Why I Don’t Bill Insurance Directly
I’ve chosen not to contract directly with insurance companies because it allows me to take better care of myself as a clinician and, in turn, offer the best care possible to my clients. Staying outside of the insurance system means I can:
Protect the time and energy I dedicate to clients rather than navigating the administrative load.
Continue investing in advanced, cutting-edge trainings and education so I can bring the most effective, evidence-based and integrative approaches into our work.
Shape therapy around your unique needs—without restrictions on frequency, or approach.
I’m happy to provide a superbill with a diagnosis for those who want to request out-of-network reimbursement.
Ultimately, this choice helps me sustain my practice in a way that is healthy for me and deeply supportive for you.
Accessibility
I believe therapy should be as accessible as possible and I reserve a limited number of sliding scale spots in my practice.
At this time, all sliding scale spots are full.
Sliding-Scale Therapy Resources in Seattle
While I don’t currently have sliding scale availability in my practice, here are a few programs that offer lower-cost therapy options:
Seattle:
Open Path Psychotherapy Collective – A nonprofit network that connects clients with therapists who offer sessions for $40–$70, and sometimes as low as $30 with interns.
Bastyr Center for Natural Health – Graduate student clinicians provide short-term therapy under supervision. Sessions are typically around $30 per hour.
Antioch Community Counseling Clinic – Offers individual, couples, family, and group therapy with graduate student therapists. Sliding scale.
Seattle University Counseling Center Referrals – Provides access to intern and staff clinicians with reduced-fee options, often starting around $50 per session.
M.E.N.D. Seattle – A community-based practice offering sliding-scale therapy, generally $50–$120 per session, with a focus on serving QTBIPOC clients.
